Have you ever wondered why the buildings around you look the way they do? You’ve just stepped into the world of architectural design, a place where form, fad and functionality all intersect. The folks over at Edmonton’s Architectural Heritage have compiled a list of all the building styles that can be found in Edmonton and have given a brief overview of each. Their catalogue is interesting on its own and provides a great insight into the history of Edmonton. Hopefully in the future, the architecture enthusiasts of St. Albert will be able to compile their own catalogue to match.
The Sturgeon Community Hospital is the the closest medical centre for the citizens of St. Albert and is usually the first place we’ll head when medical attention is needed. But even though the car trip to the emergency room is short, there is no guarantee that you’ll be seen quickly. Alberta Health Services keeps an updated list of hospital wait times in the region. If you want to be seen more quickly next time, it might be worth consulting this list and driving a little farther However, in the case of a life-threatening emergency, you should always head to your closest hospital.
There is something calming about the sound of rain, something that lets you feel comfortable curling up and forgetting about the outside world. Unfortunately, with winter almost upon us, we aren’t likely to get many more opportunities to just sit and listen to the rain. Luckily there is a website for that. And it even comes in the form of a mobile app! Rainy audio loops can be used for relaxation or just to create an atmosphere that isn’t readily available to us in this area of the world.
