ST. ALBERT FARMERS’ MARKET—Summer has arrived, and it’s a good time to head out to western Canada’s largest farmers’ market. Every Saturday until October 7, there’ll be over 250 vendors following the motto “make it, bake it, grow it.” No dogs or smoking allowed, and there’s free bus transit to and from the market.

ARTWALK—On July 6, the third ArtWalk of the summer will spread across the Perron District. Also, pop into AGSA to see the current exhibit Technological Wanders, and VASA’s exhibit Glorious and Free. Many local venues will offer refreshments, as well as host special events.

HISTORIC WALKING TOURS—On July 6, 19 & 20, the Musée Héritage Museum is hosting walking tours around St. Albert’s historic spots including the riverside, Mission Hill and downtown. Tours start at 6:30 pm and run for two hours. Also available are self-guided walking tours where you can rent a backpack from the museum or the Grain Elevator Park and use the resources in your backpack to navigate around St. Albert.

MATERIALIZE—From July 6 to August 19, the Art Rental & Sales Gallery at AGSA is hosting an emerging artist show and sale. Over 15 artists from the Edmonton area will have their art on display to create exposure for their work and to network. At the opening reception (July 6, 6 pm–9 pm), guests are invited to vote for their favourite artist.

ST. ALBERT PUBLIC LIBRARY’S NEW BRANCH—On July 10, the St. Albert Council’s meeting will include a debate regarding the Branch Library Project to address the fact that the petition the city council received has 588 invalid signatures. This and all its meetings are open to the public. Meeting starts at 2 pm.

GRETZKY HOCKEY SCHOOL—From July 10 to 14, kids can learn hockey the way Walter Gretzky taught Wayne. This school is designed to be a fun and unique experience for the kids where they can develop on-ice skills from some of the best instructors in the world.

THE GREAT CANADIAN SCAVENGER HUNT—From July 14 to 20, the St. Albert Public Library is hosting a week long scavenger hunt. Hunt for a Canadian symbol at participating venues, put them in your passport and you could win the grand prize. The kick-off party will be held in the foyer of St. Albert Place on the 14th, and you’re encouraged to come dressed as your favourite Canadian symbol.
